A cool ocean breeze drifted in through the portal of Betty hates Veronica's room. The seas felt calm beneath the Raven but the ship was strangely quiet. Betty H.V lay in her bed and stared at the ceiling, straining to hear any movement other than the gentle creaking of the ship as it moved along on the waves. Nothing. Betty hates Veronica sat up and swung her legs over the side of the bed. She sat still for a moment, but still could hear nothing. She frowned. Usually she could hear Miss Blimey stomping around at this time of day, making tea or doing something loud. Betty hates Veronica got up and walked out into the hallway. It was cold below deck, and she shivered. The Raven felt eerily empty. This wasn't right, and Betty H.V began to worry. She ran to the stairs that led up to the main deck and took them two at a time. Once outside the breeze hit her like a slap in the face. The helm was gently spinning on its own, and Miss Blimey was no where to be seen. "Where are you!" yelled Betty H.V but no one answered. She turned around and around, but she was on her own. Finally her eyes rested on a dagger sticking out of the main mast, fluttering gently from it was a torn note. Betty H.V stormed over and ripped it free from the knife. Her heart fell as she read the words written thereon.

~If you want to see your captain alive again bring the Raven to Evilwren. We'll be waiting for you at the Tavern - You know the one~

So her past had finally caught up with her, and now it seemed Miss Blimey was going to have to pay for it. "Not if I can help it!" Betty hates Veronica screamed into the wind and ran to the helm. So it was back to Evilwren and her past she set sail....

It wasn't long before the Raven coasted gently into the dock of this cursed town. Betty hates Veronica felt numb. She didn't want to be here, but there was no avoiding it. Her friend was in trouble and Betty H.V knew she was the only one who could get her out of it. She strode grimly towards the main road that would lead her to the Tavern, where Miss Blimey had rescued her all those years ago. It seemed like a dream. The dark building loomed up before her, and she saw that the post the barman used to tie her to was still there. She shuddered and moved towards the heavy doors of the bar. With her short sword drawn she pushed the door open and entered the musty room. In the centre was Miss Blimey, tied to a chair, gagged and obviously angry. She looked up in surprise and then alarm as she saw Betty hates Veronica standing in the line of a sunbeam. Miss Blimey's eyes widened and she tried to yell out but couldn't. A shadow loomed behind Betty H.V. Quick as a cat Betty hates Veronica turned on her heel and plunged her sword into the shadow, which fell groaning to the floor.

"Never step into my sunshine!" yelled Betty H.V at the figure on the ground before she ran over to cut Miss Blimey free.

"Thought you'd never get here, thanks!" Miss Blimey said as she hugged her friend. "Though.....there are 5 more of those fools in the other room, what do you want to do?" smiled Miss Blimey knowing what Betty H.V's answer would be. Together the two fearless maidens stormed into the next room and within moments had cut the fools down.

"Let's get out of here," sighed Betty hates Veronica and they both strolled arm in arm out the Tavern doors.

Once back on board the Raven Betty H.V quizzed Miss Blimey as to how she had been captured in the first place. Miss Blimey explained that she had dropped into Brevestown to pick up a few things whilst Betty hates Veronica was sleeping and had dropped into a bar for a quick meal. The barman there was apparently a friend of the same barman who had kept Betty H.V captive years ago and saw his chance for revenge. He poisoned Miss Blimey's meal and then once she had passed out took her back to the Raven to leave the note. He then set the Raven free of her moorings and high tailed it back to Evilwren with his quarry. Miss Blimey wasn't sure exactly what he intended to do with both of them once he thought he had them, and she didn't care to know. At least they were now back, safe and sound, on the sea they loved so much.

The End
